Mayke Nas recently received the artist grant of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), a prestigious exchange endowment, allowing her to work for a year in Berlin. Great names in musical history have preceded her: Stravinsky, Cage, Feldman, Riley, Xenakis, Nono all worked upon invitation of DAAD for a year during their life in Berlin. This is the second time in history that this grant has been awarded to a composer in the Netherlands. Moreover Mayke Nas is the first Dutch composer to receive this distinction since Louis Andriessen (who resided there in 1964).
