Calliope Tsoupaki - World Premiere: Another Day

Spooky moments, misty harmonies, haunting melodies and intense walls of sound evoke feelings of loss, but even more so, the ecstatic desire to embrace life, to be intoxicated by every moment that each day brings. Calliope Tsoupaki wrote her new work Another Day for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and in celebration of the 750th birthday of the City of Amsterdam. The piece was inspired as a response to a new poignant and richly imaged poem entitled Elke dag nieuw begon by the Amsterdam poet Anneke Brassinga, especially written for the occasion and she will recite it during the concerts.
