Calliope Tsoupaki - world premiere

The orchestral version of Calliope Tsoupaki’s Thin Air will receive its world premiere in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw on Sunday, April 25th at 11.00.
Thin Air is an ode to compassion and solidarity in these difficult (corona) times. The Composer Laureate of The Netherlands wrote this special piece for every instrument and every voice. However, an orchestral version was not yet realised. The Residentie Orkest, conducted by Nicholas Collon, has the honor of performing the world premiere This also fits with the reputation of the Hague orchestra as a performer of new composed music.
Calliope Tsoupaki composed Thin Air for Festivals for Compassion, an initiative of the Wonderfeel festival. It has now been performed internationally more than 45 times. The piece travels from festival to festival – including Edinburgh International Festival, Helsinki Festival, Istanbul Music Festival, Klarafestival and Holland Festival – like a true compassion relay. Music publisher Donemus is now making the sheet music for the orchestral version of Thin Air available free of charge.
Listen live via NPO RADIO 4 on Sunday, April 25th at 11.00 C.E.T.
